NYC's East Village is famously known as the counter-culture capital of the world and center of radical arts and activism in America; Though, as part of the greater Lower East Side, it is one of the most historic neighborhoods in the country...

The East Village History Project, a non-profit organization, was started by a volunteer group of native and veteran New York/Lower East Siders who are active community members and passionate historians.

Our mission is to document as much of our neighborhood's great history as accurately as possible and make this data available to the public free of charge.

Our goal is to raise the public's awareness of the East Village/Lower East Side's historic significance and influence in world history.

The Project has been collecting important data since 2001, and countless students, journalists, media outlets and history junkies continue to utilize our information.
